Nokia Siemens Networks has announced that Croatia's Hrvatski Telekom has launched LTE services in the cities of Zagreb, Rijeka, Osijek and Split.

In addition, Nokia Siemens Networks is modernizing and expanding Hrvatski Telekom's nationwide GSM and 3G networks.

The introduction of LTE services is enabled by using the 1800MHz GSM band already available to the operator. The use of the 900MHz band is extended for GSM, and also for 3G coverage expansion in rural areas.

Under the contract, Nokia Siemens Networks is also upgrading its NetAct network management system, to offer consolidated monitoring and optimization for Hrvatski Telekom's GSM, 3G and 4G networks. The company is also providing support services including network implementation, hardware, software and competence development.
