Bangladesh Court Issues Arrest Warrant for Augere Directors

Published on:

A court in Bangladesh has issued an arrest warrant for six foreign officials who control the local WiMAX network, Qubee for not answering a previous summons to appear in court to answer a commercial dispute.

Qubee is 70% owned by Dutch registered Augere and 30% owned by Teleport Bangladesh.

Teleport Bangladesh has argued that Augere had provided incorrect information to the regulatory authorities back in 2009 and submitting financial accounts without authorisation.

Although there is a dispute about the accounts and the filings, it is not clear as to why Teleport then decided to sue over the matter.

The court had issued the summons last month, against Augere's Chairman, Sanjiv Ahuja and five other officials at the company. They denied receiving the summons, but Teleport Bangladesh lawyers claim they are in the country and asked the court to seek a contempt ruling and have them arrested.

Qubee recently announced that it had signed up its 200,000 customer.
