Huawei and ZTE Targeting 100 Million Smartphone Sales in 2012

­China's Huawei and ZTE are expected to collectively ship 95-100 million smartphones in 2012, giving the two companies a combined global marketshare of 15%, according to Taiwan based DigiTimes.

According to Gartner statistics, Huawei shipped 16 million smartphones in 2011, and ZTE scored 11 million.

Citing Taiwan-based handset component suppliers, the publication reported that internal sales targets at the two companies for this year have been raised to 60 million for Huawei and 35-40 million for ZTE.

China-based hqew.com forecasts that Huawei and ZTE will ship 57 million and 37 million smartphones respectively in 2012.
