Qatari Regulator to Publish Mobile Network Quality Reports

Published on:

Qatar's telecoms regulator, ictQATAR has announced that it will regularly publish Quality of Service (QoS) reports provided by Qtel and Vodafone.

The QoS reports indicate each operators level of compliance with regards to their quality of service obligations as set forth in their licenses, although the regulator noted that the reports are based on the networks own figures and are not independently verified.

"The publishing of the Quality of Service reports is part of ictQATAR's ongoing commitment to increasing transparency and ensuring that consumers have the information they need to make informed choices. Both licensed operators in Qatar have been extremely cooperative in complying with the quality of service reporting requirements and we are confident they are working to meet all of their quality of service obligations," said Christa Cramer, ictQATAR's Assistant Secretary General, Regulatory Authority.

The QoS reports include a range of parameters service providers are assessed on in terms of compliance, including time to solve billing complaints, network quality, complaints received per 100 subscribers, successful call ratios, dropped call rates and billing correctness.
