Cable & Wireless Communications' Monaco subsidary has signed a new licence agreement with the Monaco Government covering the telecommunication and cable TV services it provides to the Principality.

The company has retained its exclusivity over services in the Principality and also been granted access to LTE radio spectrum.

The new agreement sets out Monaco Telecom's (MT) rights and obligations over the next five years and was agreed under MT's long-term concession to operate telecom services in the Principality - which runs until 2023. The new agreement was signed by Monaco's Minister of State, Michel Roger and Chief Executive of Monaco Telecom, Martin Peronnet.

Commenting on the agreement, Martin Peronnet said: "This new agreement shows the confidence that the Government has in Monaco Telecom to deliver world class services to the people of Monaco. We are pleased to have signed the new agreement, and make the commitment to continue investing to keep Monaco's essential communications services."

The new agreement includes several objectives for MT, including continuing to ensure that telecommunication services remain good value for individuals and businesses, to ensure that the Principality retains up-to-date technology infrastructure and that the operator continues to facilitate innovation.
