Armenian Mobile Subscriber Base Drops Following Recount

Published on:

The mobile subscribe base in Armenia has been reduced by 680,000 customers to 3.27 million, a member of the Committee regulating public service of Armenia Samvel Arabajyan has announced.

The change is a clarification of what constitutes an active subscriber on a network - and this has been tightened to a three month limit, after which if the SIM card is not being used, the account is deemed to be dormant.

As a result of the changes, VivaCell subscribers' decreased by 450,000 to just over 2 million. Orange's subscriber base decreased by 230,000 to 520,000 customer

ArmenTel did not change its statistics, as it already used the 3-month limit for its calculations. It has around 750,000 customers.
