Slovakia's telecoms regulator has announced that it is preparing to auction off additional radio spectrum. The auction will be for the 800Mhz and 2.6Ghz spectrum and is expected to take place in the first quarter of 2012.

The regulator, the TUSR said that negotiations are currently underway with the Ministry of Transport and Finance to securing the funding necessary to carry out the auction.

The regulator added that it is also planning to set conditions requiring minimum mobile broadband coverage obligations for the license holders.

If a new entrant wins the auction, they may also be granted GSM spectrum.

More details will be published later.
