The debate over when, or even if, Apple will announce its next generation iPhone 5 got a fillip yesterday when it was reported that an AT&T Vice President confirmed to several company employees that the iPhone 5 is slated to launch in early October.Â
The company will need to ramp up its staff levels to prepare for the launch, so sources within the operator can be expected to leak some details when they are briefed on staffing plans.
According to the Boy Genius Reports website, citing a high-level source, the unnamed VP sent a memo to managers: "Expect things to get really, really busy in the next 35-50 days, so prepare your teams accordingly."
Apple is widely expected to announce the delayed launch of the iPhone 5 at its show in September, with a retail launch a few weeks later.
