Bulgaria to Auction Additional 3G Radio Spectrum
Published on:
In a brief statement, Bulgaria's Communications Regulation Commission (CRC) has announced a tender for 2 x 15 MHz in the 2 GHz range for use by 3G networks.
According to the tender document, the frequency bands being offered are 1900-1980 MHz, 2010-2025 MHz and 2110-2170 MHz. The license will last just five years though, rather than the more usual 15-years offered with new licenses.
Due to the short license timeframe, it can be expected that the spectrum will be bought by the incumbent operators instead of being used to promote a new entrant into the market.
The tender for the spectrum closes in 21 days time (5th September).
