Citing the local operators, the Joongang Daily said that the fast sales of the new Galaxy phone, which is lighter, thinner and faster than its predecessor, helped Samsung Electronics regain the domestic market share it had lost to Apple's iPhone.

SK Telecom has activated 550,000 Galaxy S2 smartphones since the product's April 29 debut. No. 2 mobile operator KT Corp. sold 300,000 units, and LG U+ Corp. sold 150,000 phones.

In related news, Samsung's Facebook page for Singapore showed the phone being released in that country shortly - but the image used to illustrate the article contained AT&T branding, adding to the rumours that the phone will soon be launched int the USA as well.
