Slower Delivery of CDMA Repeaters for China Expected

Repeater Technologies has said that the company believes that the delivery of products for a Chinese order worth US$11 million will most likely be in volumes substantially lower than originally anticipated, and spread over a longer time period.

"Repeater Technologies shipped US$565,000 worth of products against the US$11 million order during September," said Chris Branscum, president and chief executive officer of Repeater Technologies. "However, the initial order from China Unicom was for less than 10% of what Capitel and Repeater Technologies had anticipated. Given this, we are taking the view that the order from our distributor will ultimately be for substantially less than US$11 million and that the delivery schedule will extend beyond March 2002, the end of our current fiscal year."

The order, announced on Sept. 6, 2001, was placed by Repeater Technologies' distributor in China, Capitel Group of Beijing. Capitel is supplying repeaters to China Unicom for its CDMA rollout. Through Capitel, Repeater Technologies' products are already in use in China Unicom's network in urban and suburban areas of Beijing and Tianjin City, as well as Hebei Province."
