Motorola Licensed its Predictive Text Technology

Motorola has licensed its iTAP predictive text entry technology to Acer Communications and Multimedia. Acer now has a worldwide license on iTAP technology for a 3 year period during which it can build Motorola's iTAP technology into any mobile phone it manufactures for any vendor. With over 35,000 words in its dictionary, iTAP technology can predict most words on the first attempt, and it supports more than 20 languages, including Chinese, Dutch, Italian, Japanese, Portuguese, German and Spanish.

Motorola began shipping its Acer-built Motorola Talkabout 191 in Asian and European GSM markets earlier this year. Although Motorola is shipping a variety of phones with iTAP technology globally, the T191 is the first iTAP product that Acer has manufactured."
