Motorola Mobility says that it has extended its supplier agreement with NII Holdings which trades as Nextel in Latin America for iDEN handsets through 2014.
For the past 14 years, NII Holdings and Motorola have partnered to provide iDEN services to subscribers in Argentina, Brazil, Chile, Mexico and Peru.
This extension expands the scope of the supply agreement to also provide a range of new handsets and services for NII's next-generation networks including PTT and 3G enabled handsets, devices and accessories.
"Motorola Mobility and NII have enjoyed a longstanding partnership and we are encouraged by the strong growth of their customer base," said Mark Shockley, senior vice president, general manager, Global Go-to-Market, Motorola Mobility. "Devices featuring PTT technology remain an integral part of our overall portfolio and we look forward to working with NII to bring both iDEN and next-generation products to market in the future."
