Apple IPad Reporting Problems Connecting to CDMA Networks

Published on:

The CDMA version of Apple's iPad is reported to be having problems connecting to the Verizon Wireless network and needs repeated rebooting to enable the 3G connection.

According to comments on the Apple Support Discussion users who disable the 3G connection while they are connected to a Wi-Fi hotspot are often then finding that they cannot reconnect the 3G service again. Suggested bug-fixes include restarting the iPad completely as resetting CDMA based services individually, such as "airplane mode" has no effect.

Apple customers are complaining of hours on the phone to Apple Customer Service and trips to the Genius Bar without solving the problem.

The problem seems to be widespread with replacement models exhibiting the same problem after a short timeframe.

Some customers are even talking of switching back to AT&T after some Apple representatives reportedly blamed the problem on the Verizon network.
