LG Working on Google Branded Android Tablet - Report

Published on:

Google is reported to be working on a new tablet device which will run a customised version of the Android OS, manufactured by LG and be sold under the Google brandname. According to Russian blogger, Eldar Murtazin, Google approached Samsung and HTC, but both declined to participate in the product development.

More curiously, he adds that tablet devices coming out now which run on the smartphone variant of the Android OS, versions 2.x, will not be allowed to upgrade at a later date to the tablet optimised version 3.x, codenamed Honeycomb.

The new tablet - possibly the Google Nexus T - is is scheduled for a mid-summer or early autumn lanch and is presumably going to launch with the next upgrade to the Android OS, thought to be known as ice-cream, after Google penchant for naming its products after American deserts.
