Vodafone Albania CEO Haris Broumidis has announced that the mobile network operator continues the expansion of its 3G network, with plans to cover the densest population areas within summer 2011.

"I am glad to inform that after introducing 3G technology to the capital city Tirana we have spread our 3G network footprint in Durrės, Elbasan, Fushė-Krujė, Fier, Vlora and a number of their surrounding areas. In a few weeks we will have 3G services in Shkodėr, Lezhė, Krujė and their surrounding areas. We have envisaged covering with 3G signal all main cities including the coastal populated areas by summer 2011," Mr. Broumidis said.

According to Mr. Broumidis the type of 3G technology offered by Vodafone is of the top range with designated 3G speeds up to 14.4 Mbps. "We are bringing to Albania the upper scale 3G technology which allows speeds of up to 14.4 Mbps at the initial stage, which very soon, as the demand increases, will be updated to faster speeds. We believe that Albanians deserve to have one of the most advanced 3G technology in the region" - Vodafone Albania CEO said.
