Qubee Plans $150 Million WiMAX Investment During 2011

­Pakistan based WiMAX network operator, Qubee - a subsidiary of Augere - says that it will spend US$150 million by the end of this year to expand its network. The company has already grown its outlets from four sales centres to 45 in four cities.

"We are looking forward towards adding more professionals to our staff. The number of employees in the company will increase to 1,000 by year-end," the Chief Marketing Officer (CMO) of Augere Holdings Alistair Johnston disclosed to journalists.

"The home users are our main customers though we have entered into different deals with academic institutes, small-sized business in Karachi," he added

Harbinger Capital Partners - which is backing the USA based LTE network, LightSquared - brought a 25% stake in Augere for US$50 million in late 2009. Augere currently has access to wireless spectrum in Pakistan, Bangladesh and Uganda.
