Orange Expected to Sell Sony Ericsson's PlayStation Phone in the UK
Published on:
Orange UK is reported to be close to sign a deal to sell Sony Ericsson's oft-rumoured PlayStation phone, which is now expected to be formally announced at next month's Mobile World Congress. Citing a "well placed industry source", the trade magazine, Mobile Today said that the deal was being signed by the group holding company, Everything Everywhere, but that sales would be limited to the "premium" Orange brand.
T-Mobile, which makes up the other half of the Everything Everywhere group wont be getting the handset - at least initially.
Both Sony Ericsson and Everything Everywhere said they "would not comment on rumours and speculation".
Although rumours of a PlatStation phone can be traced back at least five years, the reports of the elusive handset have been spurred recently by specification leaks and claimed photos of the handset. If the rumours are correct, the phone will be an Android based device, with a 4-inch screen with a resolution of 854 x 480 pixels, a 5 megapixel camera and 512MB RAM.
The handset is expected to be powered by Qualcomm's Snapdragon processor.
