Indian mobile network, Tata DoCoMo plans to set up 4,000 dedicated retail outlets to sell its forthcoming 3G services. The company is expected to launch its 3G network at the end of this week.
"There will be a sound distribution network. We will set up 4,000 exclusive stores for 3G in the next three-six months. The company will foray fully in the 3G space, with dongles, mobile internet devices, routers and mobile devices, as only this will make the 3G experience complete for consumers," Tata Teleservices Executive Vice-president, mobility, Deepak Gulati, told Business Standard.
"We have already trained about 10,000 people for this, apart from training our employees," he added.
The company will be the first private network to launch a WCDMA based network in the country. The two state-owned networks, MTNL and BSNL were given an early start by the government and launched their networks before the 3G licenses were sold to the private operators.
Japan's DoCoMo took a 26% stake in Tata Teleservices (TTSL) for US$2.7 billion in December 2008. The Tata DoCoMo branded GSM network was launched in July 2009.
