Latvia Plans to Delay 3G Auction
The Latvian newspaper, Dienas Bizness has reported that Latvia's Transport Ministry is expecting to delay its planned 3G license auction until next year. The newspaper was quoting the deputy head of the ministry's communication department, Adolfs Jakobsons as saying that the auction would not occur until the second half of next year, and that a decision on selecting an international advisor would be made shortly. The consultants are expected to be hired by the end of the year to advise the government on setting up the auction. The government has previously said that it will offer three 3G licenses, with two guaranteed for the incumbent operators, and a third for a new entrant, which would also include some GSM1800 spectrum."
