EVN Telecom Launches Vietnam's Fourth 3G Network

Vietnam's EVN Telecom has launched its 3G network becoming the fourth of the five mobile network providers in the country to launch the service. The mobile network operator said that it has installed about 2 500 3G base stations in 63 provinces and cities nationwide covering 40 per cent of the country's population.
EVN Telecom deputy director Vo Quang Lam said that in the first phase the company would focus its services on the cities of Ha Noi, HCM City, Hai Phong, Da Nang and Can Tho.
The operator plans to have over 5,000 base stations by the end of next year to expand its coverage.
The company has a sales target of one million 3G subscribers within the next 12 months.
According to statistics from the Mobile World analysts, the operator ended last year with 1.85 million customers, representing a market share of just under 1.6%.
