Samsung Wins Kazakhstan Mobile WiMAX Contract

Kazakhstan's Alem Communications has selected Samsung Electronics as its exclusive Mobile WiMAX network supplier. Alem Communications via its subsidiary Digital TV launched its first commercial Mobile WiMAX service in Almaty, the economic hub of Kazakhstan on May 1st, after the successful soft launch of the service earlier in March.
As part of its gradual nationwide expansion, Alem Communications also plans to further deploy Mobile WiMAX services in several other large cities later this year, including the capital city Astana.
Following the beginning of the partnership between Samsung and Alem Communications in September 2009, Samsung has now provided its field-proven 2.5GHz Mobile WiMAX solutions including base stations, service network gateways and other service-related equipment.
