India Mulling LTE Spectrum Auction

Although India is still in the middle of its 3G license auction, the country's government is already looking forward to selling off radio spectrum for LTE networks. The sale could come as soon as this year, once the 3G operators start rolling out their networks, the Hindustan Times quoted Communications Minister A. Raja as saying.
"We have already delayed the auction of 3G spectrum due to various reasons that were beyond my control," Raja said. "I do not want any delay in 4G services. We should be with rest of the world in 4G."
"Telecom Regulatory Authority of India (TRAI) has already started pre-consultation process of 4G spectrum auction," Raja added. "Once TRAI submits its recommendations, the government will work on it."
The 3G license auction is expected to last a couple of weeks, and will be followed by a BWA/WiMAX spectrum auction immediately after it finishes.
