Malta Launches GPRS

Vodafone Malta has commercially launched its GPRS service and is making the feature available for free for an introductory period. "It is my pleasure to bring to the Maltese public 2.5G technology and make it available to all Vodafone clients," said Joseph C. Grioli, managing director of Vodafone Malta at the launch. PrePay customers will also be allowed to switch to a contract account at no charge if they wish to use the GPRS service - which may be a clever way to lower the company's PrePay subscriber base."
