Vodafone Czech Republic says that it has launched HSPA service in all of Brno and for 70% of Prague's population. Vodafone added that it will launch high speed mobile data in the rest of the capital by the end of June. Within a year, Vodafone's 3G will be available in all regional cities and tens of other towns. Vodafone customers in Brno and Prague can try 3G out for one month free of charge.
"In the next twelve months, we will gradually roll out high-speed mobile Internet in 30-40 towns, including all regional cities. The priority for us is to deliver the best customer experience for both voice and data services," says Pavel Kos, Vice-President for Technology at Vodafone Czech Republic.
Customers won't pay anything extra for this increase in speed, as it will be part of the current data tariffs.
The HSPA upgrade was provided by Huawei, and allows for mobile Internet connections up to 7.2 Mb/s for download and up to 2 Mb/s upload. In addition to the accumulative 3G network, Vodafone offers EDGE, which is now available to more than 95% of the population in the Czech Republic.
