Iranian mobile network operator, Irancell has announced the launch of a WiMAX network covering seven cities Esfahan, Ahvaz, Tabriz, Tehran, Shiraz, Karaj and Mashhad.

India's Uninor -a joint venture between Telenor and India's Unitech - has ordered backhaul and access microwave links from Harris Stratex Networks. The contract has a lifespan of five-years.

Nigeria's Gateway Communications has contracted with Cambridge Broadband Networks to build a mobile network comprising of 130 hubs and 5000 terminal stations. The company will roll out up to 10Mb mobile broadband services across 10 Nigerian states in 2010, with Port Harcourt and Abuja scheduled to go live in February. It is anticipated that a further 14 states will go live through 2011.

Canada's MTS Allstream has announced an expansion of its CDMA wireless network bringing coverage to eight new rural Manitoba communities in 2010, including the port of Churchill in northern Manitoba.

T-Mobile Czech Republic has commercially launched its Nokia Siemens Networks supplied 3G network. Coverage is currently limited to Prague and will extend to the largest Bohemian and Moravian cities by the end of this year.
