Zain has been granted a 3G operators license in Malawi by the local telecoms
regulator, Macra. The company is already installing the necessary network
upgrades.
Rogers Chief Executive, Nadir Mohamed has said that the company would be
interested in buying Globalive's unused radio spectrum if Orascom Wireless
backed mobile network is unable to secure the necessary Canadian investment to
lower its foreign investment to within Canadian laws. Currently, the company is
blocked from launching its services until it is able to lower the percentage
investment made by Orascom in the company.
Montenegro's Promonte has deployed what it says is the country's first
network repeater powered by renewable energy sources.
Vodafone Italy has opened a joint research center in Milan with Huawei.
