Operator News in Brief - 13th Nov 2009
Vietnam's VMS MobiFone has awarded a contract to Nokia Siemens Networks to
modernize its network to 3G and implement an IP backbone.
Newish Indonesian mobile network, Axis has signed a national roaming agreement
with incumbent, XL covering Sumatera, followed by Kalimantan and Sulawesi. The
contract comes into effect from Q1 2010.
All three of South Africa's mobile networks, Vodacom, MTN and Cell C have
agreed a reduction in mobile termination rates that will be submitted for
approval to the telecoms regulator. Peak rates will reduce from R1.25 to R0.89.
Off peak rates will not change. The revised rates will be effective in February
2010.
Palm has announced that Mexico's Telcel is to start selling the Palm Pre
smartphone from later this month.
