MobiFone, VinaPhone, Viettel Apply for New Number Range

­With new subscribers of up to 100,000 per day, Vietnam's three largest mobile network operators, VinaPhone, MobiFone, Viettel are facing with the difficulty in running out of numbers.

To meet subscriber development demand, three big operators propose new number range (0162 for Viettel, 0120 for MobiFone, and and the last 4 million numbers of 0129 for VinaPhone).

If these proposals are approved, they will have total of 21 number ranges, of which 8 is of Viettel, 7 is of MobiFone, and 6 is of Vinaphone.

With the current development speed, the Ministry of Information and Communications (MIC) may need to increase mobile phone numbers from 10 to 11 digits to solve the problems which relates to mobile number quantity in future, analysts have said.

They have now asked the Ministry of Information and Communications (MoIC) to grant more network codes to cover future growth
