Husband Jailed for Killing Vodafone Executive
The husband of a Vodafone UK executive has been found guilty of stabbing her to death following a trail in Winchester Crown Court. The jury found Alisdair Sinclair, aged 48, guilty of manslaughter through diminished responsibility and not guilty of the murder.
He admitted killing his wife, but had always claimed it was in response to an attack she had initiated following an argument. He had been jailed for nine years.
The court heard that he had suffered from depression for over a decade, but had refused to seek help.
She was married to her husband, Alisdair in 1987 and he reportedly worked from home whilst looking after the children. Mrs Sinclair's mother, Nikki Alford, had earlier told the court that her daughter was about to seek a divorce from her husband due to his increasingly erratic behaviour.
Judge Guy Boney QC said "Sally Sinclair appears to have coped with, and tolerated, your behaviour over a long period. When eventually she could not take any more of your behaviour you exploded in a frenzy of brutality in reaction to certain information you forced out of her."
"You took the life of somebody with the highest quality and character - you slaughtered your wife, there is no other word appropriate, given the number and severity of the knife wounds received."
