Go Mobile Upgrades Maltese Mobile Download Speeds

Maltese mobile network operator, Go Mobile says that it has upgraded its HSPA network to support download speeds of up to 7.2Mbps. It is the first network in the country to upgrade to this level of performance.

Commenting on GO's high speed mobile internet access of up to 7.2Mbps, Norbert Prihoda, Chief Operations Officer said: "We firmly believe in enriching our customers' broadband internet experience on the move and thus are bringing another important innovation to the Maltese market. Our enhanced wireless service with a speed of up to 7.2Mbps positions us as leaders in the local market - more than a cut above other local providers."

The network also doubled the speed of all its 2Mbps landline ASDL connections to 4Mbps at no added cost to the customer.

A couple of months ago, the network launched an Alvarion supplied WiMAX network.

The country has three networks. Based on figures from the Mobile World analysts, the market leader is Vodafone with 210,000 customers followed by Go Mobile with 172,000 subscribers. The third network, Melita Cable has only just launched its network, and has 45,000 customers.
