Vodafone Qatar Doubles International Call Capacity
Following complaints about congestion, Vodafone Qatar says that it has doubled its international calling capacity. The company says that most customers will have already noticed a significant improvement, although demand for calling Sri Lanka, Pakistan and Nepal remains very high.
During the Eid Al Fitr break , Vodafone Qatar customers were making international calls averaging 1 million minutes a day as part of the operator's international calling promotion. This meant that at times all of the Vodafone international calling lines were fully utilized.
"I'm very pleased that we've been able to double the international calling capacity earlier than we had targeted for. In order to keep up with the huge demand for international calling we will continue to monitor the call volumes and rollout additional capacity accordingly. A permanent solution to capacity constraints will be found only when Vodafone Qatar's own international cable landing station begins operation," said Grahame Maher,CEO, Vodafone Qatar.
More than 150,000 customers have joined Vodafone Qatar since its public launch in July this year.
