ZTE Wins 5-Year Upgrade Contract in Montenegro
Montenegro based Promonte has contracted with China's ZTE as the sole vendor and service partner for its mobile network modernisation and expansion project. Promonte is a subsidiary of Norway's Telenor.
The agreement involves a complete swap and upgrade of Promonte's existing 2G and 3G Radio and Core network and its Transmission network in Montenegro and runs over a period of five years. ZTE will also provide corresponding implementation, operation and support services during the contract period.
The radio network will be based on ZTE's Software Define Radio RRU/BBU platform, which offers an upgrade path towards HSPA+ and LTE.
"This agreement with Promonte is a great milestone for ZTE in the European market, and we are proud to have been selected to provide them a truly future-proof mobile network," said Kenneth Fredriksen, GM of ZTE's Telenor Global Business Unit. "ZTE will provide Promonte the products and tools to deliver the best quality network and most innovative services in the market, which should allow them to secure a leading position in Montenegro."
