T-Mobile Buys Czech Landline Operator
The Czech republic arm of T-Mobile has announced plans to buy the retail telecom business of Ceske Radiokomunikace. The company is an alternative provider of fixed-line telecom solutions to small businesses and residential customers in the Czech Republic. The business's portfolio of products comprises fixed and wireless broadband, directly and indirectly connected voice services.
The company had a customer base of 170,000 at the end of last year.
The companies have also signed agreements about ongoing cooperation in relation to transition services to facilitate smooth transfer of the business, and also wholesale services to be provided to ensure continuous provision of services to customers.
"Ceske Radiokomunikace has fully analyzed its market position and the growth opportunities in the retail segments concerned. We have compared our brand position and service to other competitors' offers as well as our ability to differentiate effectively in the market," said Jane Hannah, Chief Executive Officer of Ceske Radiokomunikace. "We have decided to sell our Retail telecom business to T-Mobile and will fully concentrate on our core businesses - TV and radio broadcasting and broadcasting infrastructure including wholesale and corporate telecom businesses. Our vision is to continue to be the leading expert partner in delivering top quality analogue and digital broadcasting services, helping wholesale customers to effectively enable network infrastructure and providing converged network solutions to corporate customers."
