Nokia Siemens Networks Wins 3G Upgrade Contract in Hong Kong
Nokia Siemens Networks says that it has won a five-year upgrade contract from Hong Kong's Hutchison Telecom to upgrade its network to HSPA+. Nokia Siemens Networks will also deploy its NetAct network management system to monitor, manage and optimize the network, and offer a comprehensive range of services including maintenance and competence development training.
The contract includes a minimum equipment purchase of close to HK$350 million (US$45 million).
Hutchison Telecom trades under the "Three" brandname. According to recent figures from the Mobile World analysts, the operator ended Q1 2009 with just under 2.5 million customers, representing a market share of 34%.
