Vodafone Qatar Aims for Majority Market Share

Vodafone Qatar is confident that it can take a majority market share within the country over the next ten years, a senior company official has said.

"We hope that by 2019 Vodafone Qatar will have acquired 40-60 percent market share as we will be offering quality product and a great distribution system nationwide," director, Consumer Business Unit, Vodafone Qatar, Daniel Horan, told Qatar Tribune.

The company also has a target to raise the number of its sales outlets to 1,500 by the end of this year.

"Very soon Vodafone Qatar will be announcing a major initiative for customer services and this will set new industry benchmarks in this segment," Horan added, referring to the recent launch of Customer Charter by rivals Qtel.

Vodafone Qatar is a joint venture between Vodafone and the Qatar Foundation, and was granted the country's second mobile operator license for a payment of US$2.12 billion. The Company received its license on June 28, 2008 and the first test calls were made in December 2008 and the network was officially switched on the 1st of March 2009.
