Real-Time Traffic Website and Mobile Phone Software for China

Software house, China TransInfo says that it has launched China's first multi-city real-time traffic website and mobile phone software with initial coverage in Beijing, Shanghai, Chongqing, Chengdu, and Wuhan. In addition, the Company launched the multi-city, real-time Traffic Jam Index, which will classify each city's traffic as seriously congested, congested, mildly congested, smooth, or very smooth, based on the percentage of streets in each city that are congested.

China TransInfo's technology is based mainly upon GPS sensors installed in fleets of taxis and road side sensors.

In conjunction with the website launch, the Company also introduced the first software in China that enables motorists to check real-time traffic conditions in multiple cities via their cell phones. The software is initially being offered free to consumers and is downloadable at the Company's new website.

"By initially providing free real-time traffic information on our website and through our software for mobile phones, we expect to collect more accurate and direct user feedback and accumulate operational experience. As the subscriber base increases, we plan to monetize our website and software through a variety of means, such as advertising on our website and forming agreements with wireless telecom carriers to embed the software into handsets and share subscription revenue for the service. Further, we plan to expand our urban coverage to more capital cities in China by the end of this year," added Mr. Xia.
