Implementation of CDMA-450 in North Kazakhstan

Kazakhstan's state controlled landline operator Kazakhtelecom has expanded its fixed wireless network in the North of the country by deploying a WLL CDMA450 based network. A total of 14 automatic telephone stations and 2 basic stations of wireless CDMA 450 access which cover 27 rural areas have been installed in Akzhar region.
Mr.Serik Bilyalov, Akim for North Kazakhstan Oblast and Mr.Alim Shukenov, Director General for North Kazakhstan Oblast Telecommunication Direction, branch of Kazakhtelecom JSC visited Akzharsky region of the oblast, where the project was completed.
Basic station coverage zone of CDMA- 450 station in the rural area is around 25-35 km. One such station can serve to 1,000 subscribers. Last year, the government decided that subscribers' terminals installed by Kazakhtelecom in rural areas will not subject to state registration or taxes.
Since the deployment in the rural regions commenced, Kazakhtelecom has installed 30 basic stations, including 27 in rural area, with five more stations planned to be installed in 2009.
In the whole the project supposes to install up to 900 stations by 2013.
