Vivo Subscriber Base Passes 46 Million Mark
Brazilian mobile network operator, Vivo has reported that it attracted 1.178 million new subscribers in the second quarter of this year, bringing its total to 46.8 million. The company says that is market share has now reached 29.3%.
The quarterly revenue rose by 7.1% to R$3.62 billion while net profit jumped to R$172.4 million, compared to R$63.9 million a year ago.
EBITDA margin in the quarter of 30.4%, a growth of 8.2% over 2Q08. EBITDA reached R$ 1.2 billion in the quarter, a growth of 42.3% in comparison with 2Q08;
Vivo is equally owned by Portugal Telecom and the Telefónica group and provides coverage to over 2,000 cities in Brazil. It is the only cellular company in the country that offers mobile communication services for both GSM and CDMA.
