Geocell Extends Mobile Operating License by 10 Years

The Georgian National Communications Commission says that it has agreed to extend the mobile operating license held by Geocell by a further ten years. The operator is being charged GEL 39.3 million (US$23.5 million) for the extension.

The company is also being asked to pay GEL 42,805 (US$25,590) to extend its three-digit numbering code 8-9-3 licence term.

According to the statistics from the Mobile World, Geocell had around 1.6 million subscribers at the end of Q1 2009, representing a market share of 49%.
