ZTE Tops China Mobile 3G Contract
ZTE is reported to have picked up just over a third of the latest TD-SCDMA tender from China Mobile, reports the Interfax news agency. Huawei won 22% of the contract, while Datang Telecom was awarded 16%. Other equipment manufacturers share the remainder, every company to have 5-6%.
The contracts awarded are for two-thirds of the ongoing TD-SCDMA tender, with the remaining RMB 8.6 billion (US$1.26 billion) due to be finalised in August.
ZTE and Huawei's tenders were reportedly boosted by offers of a free upgrade of China Mobile's existing TD-SCDMA equipment, most of which was deployed during the trial phase of the network.
