Vodafone Qatar Shares to Be Listed on Stock Exchange Next Week
Vodafone Qatar has announced that the company will be listed on the Qatar Exchange from next Wednesday (22nd July 2009). Vodafone Qatar's floatation of 40% of its stock took place in April, 2009, and raised approximately USD$950 million.
Once listed, 100% of the Company's authorised share capital is open to foreign investment, with no limits on foreign ownership. The founders' shares, representing 60% of the authorised share capital, are blocked from trading for 2 years. Vodafone Qatar is now 77% Qatari owned.

Vodafone Qatar is a joint venture between Vodafone and the Qatar Foundation, and was granted the country's second mobile operator license for a payment of US$2.12 billion. The Company received its license on June 28, 2008 and the first test calls were made in December 2008 and the network was officially switched on the 1st of March 2009.
