Telenet Selects Alcatel-Lucent As Network Integrator
Telenet and Alcatel-Lucent have announced a major step in the operator's mobile MVNO project. Telenet, a provider of media and telecommunications services in Flanders, selected Alcatel-Lucent as overall network integrator and has now announced a 7-year frame agreement with Alcatel-Lucent.
Alcatel-Lucent will be the overall integrator of the full mobile core, and of the value added service network components. As part of the agreement, Alcatel-Lucent will be responsible for the supply, installation, integration, operation and maintenance of Telenet's next generation mobile core network and service creation infrastructure.
"We are excited to be working on this project together with Telenet. We notice a trend of fixed network operators evolving towards offering mobile services, but Telenet is aggressively implementing this strategy, making Telenet the first European cable operator to become a full MVNO," said Paul Depuydt, head of Alcatel-Lucent's business in the Benelux region.
