Philippine Operator Seeks Delay in Per-Minute Billing Abolition
Philippines based operator, Globe Telecom is asking the regulator to delay a deadline for the operators to switch from per-minute billing to per-three-second charges. The operator reportedly told the regulator that it needs more time to recalibrate its tariffs to comply with the regulations.
"To this extent, Globe requests the NTC to hold the issuance of the subject draft guidelines until fair and reasonable per-pulse rate can be determined," the company's head for regulatory affairs Ma. Caridad Gonzalez told the local Business Mirror daily.
If the regulator signs the proposed regulation, then the operators will have to submit their amended tariffs to the regulator within 30 days, with implementation within 60 days.
The other operators have also called for a longer timeframe to implement the regulations, with Smart seeking as much as four months.
