Huawei to Deploy HSPA Upgrade in Vietnam
Vietmanese mobile network operator, Viettel says that it has signed a network upgrade contract with Huawei for HSPA services to be delivered by the end of 2009. Local newspaper, Thanh Nien reported that Huawei will build more than 3,000 base stations throughout Vietnam, including in Hanoi, Da Nang and parts of Ho Chi Minh City.
Customers in both densely populated and remote areas where cable broadband infrastructure was limited will have access to wireless broadband services, superior multimedia services and high-quality content, Viettel said.
Estimates from the Mobile World shows that Viettel ended Q1 '09 with 21.7 million customers, representing a market share of just under 30%.
