Orange Launches Qualcomm Snapdragon Based Smartphone from Toshiba

In Orange's first ever pan-European agreement with Toshiba, a touchscreen smartphone, the TG01 first launched in France last week and today in the UK in a three-month market exclusive. It will be available in Switzerland in a six-month exclusive later this month and in Romania from August.

Especially customised by Orange, the TG01 boasts one of the widest high-definition touch-screens available on a mobile phone and is the first device ever to have 1GHz processing power.

Olaf Swantee, SEVP of Orange's global mobile business says, "At Orange, it is our ambition to help every Orange customer get more out of their mobile. Over 3.2 million customers per month browse the Orange World portal in the UK, and in France we have over 800,000 mobile TV subscribers per month." Olaf continues, "If the experience is good, people want to try new things on their phone. With the TG01's advanced capabilities, Orange customers can further harness PC-like power in their hands for the best possible access to multimedia services."

The phone is based on the Qualcomm Snapdragon platform and uses the Windows Mobile 6.1 Professional operating system.

The phone was originally announced in February.
