Telcordia Wins Indian Billing Contract
Indian greenfield mobile network operator, Unitech Wireless has contracted with Telcordia for its billing and charging software. Building off its ongoing relationship with IBM, Telcordia built its solution on the IBM BladeCenter and engages IBM to provide local support. The Telcordia solution also uses Telesoft Technologies OKEFORD media platform technology.
"This marks the fourth CSP in India to select Telcordia for real-time charging and is indicative of the value and much needed service differentiation that Telcordia brings CSPs in a highly competitive market by enabling value-added, personalized and interactive services." said Anuj Kapur, Country Head -- India, Service Delivery Solutions, Telcordia.
Unitech Wireless is 60% owned by Norway's Telenor. Unitech Wireless has pan-Indian telecommunications licences in all 22 telecom circles, and plans to launch its services in mid 2009.
