Starent Networks says that US cable network, Cox Communications has selected its multimedia core networking solutions for its wireless network. Starent’s intelligent Packet Data Serving Node (PDSN) and Home Agent (HA) will deliver data and multimedia services within Cox’s 3G (CDMA) network.
Starent’s intelligent In-line Services include enhanced charging, content filtering, network-based traffic optimization, application detection and optimization as well as stateful firewall to further improve network performance and reliability.
“We are pleased with the core network experience that Starent provides,” said Stephen Bye, Cox’s vice president of wireless. “As we near our wireless launch, continuous visibility into our network remains key in ensuring a high performance customer experience.”
Huawei recently won the contract to build Cox's 3G network based on CDMA EV-DO in the 700 MHz band.
