WiMAX Network Launched in Lithuanian Cities

The Lithuanian TV broadcaster, LRTC (Lithuanian Radio and TV Centre) has announced the launch of a Samsung supplied WiMAX network in five cities. LRTC said that it expects over 100,000 subscribers will use Mobile WiMAX service in early 2010 and the number of subscriber will increase rapidly if the nationwide Mobile WiMAX network builds by the end of 2010.

Mr. Algirdas Vydmontas, General Director of LRTC, said, “Mobile WiMAX is warmly welcomed in Lithuania. Hundreds of people visit our service website a day and we have a rush of inquiries by phone and e-mail for applying the most advanced and innovative telecommunication service.“ “We will aggressively attract not only home subscribers but also enterprise customers with our effective and high-powered marketing strategies and offer them services corresponding to their needs and newest market trends.” he added.

LRTC is the main terrestrial radio and TV network operator in Lithuania which has more than 50 years of experience in terrestrial broadcasting. It is the member of WiMAX Forum since 2004 and has obtained the license for Mobile WiMAX from Lithuanian Communications Regulatory Authority in 2007.
