Bouygues Telecom to Trial Alcatel-Lucent's IMS Platform
Published on: 28th May 2009
France's Bouygues Telecom has contracted with Alcatel-Lucent to deploy an IMS pilot network that enables the operator to test new multimedia communications services that are based on the GSM Association’s “Rich Communication Suite” specifications. The tests will take place during the second half of 2009.
Following the announcement in February 2009, Bouygues Telecom, Orange and SFR have decided to test interoperability between these new services on a national scale, based on a standardized technical environment and a wide range of terminals.
The IMS pilot is an initial step in enabling Bouygues Telecom to offer services such as enriched calling with multimedia sharing, phonebook with presence enabled contact information and messaging services.
Alcatel-Lucent will deploy and integrate a complete solution including the IMS core network and applications consisting of: RCS application servers, IMS session control, HSS (Home Subscriber Server) servers, border gateway, and service/network management functionalities.
“With the deployment of this pilot network, Bouygues Telecom has again placed its trust in our expertise and confirmed our leading position in France in end-to-end IMS solutions,” added Pierre Barnabé, head of Alcatel-Lucent’s business in France.
